ESA's (European Space Agency) X-ray Multi-Mirror Mission, better known as XMM-Newton, is a space observatory with X-ray and optical/ultraviolet telescopes that studies a wide variety of objects, from distant galaxy clusters to planets in our solar system. NASA supports the U.S. scientific community’s use of XMM-Newton and funded elements of its instrument package. These animations showcase the spacecraft in celebration of its 25th year of operations.
