What's the best part of your job?
Without a doubt, the best part of my job is working with the team. And, you know, I often say--
You are getting behind the scenes of the interview process for Curious Universe. So our host, Jacob Pinter, is going to be interviewing Charlie Blackwell-Thompson.
How do you explain to them what your job is? And on the flip side, what's the hardest part?
I think the hardest part is waiting for launch day.
I think that we have produced close to 70 episodes of Curious Universe, on all different types of topics.
You are falling an infinite amount of space.
Uh oh.
So space-time inside of a black hole behaves very differently than it does outside.
They listened to a previous episode of Curious Universe called “Inside a Black Hole.” In that episode we mentioned a quantum physics phenomenon called Hawking radiation. It's this strange, magical, somewhat unsettling moment when, in the middle of the day, the world suddenly goes dark.
Last year one of my favorites was for the total solar eclipse. Across North America, we had an eclipse-themed series, which we called a podcast companion to the total solar eclipse. And we were just helping everyone take part in this huge celestial moment. It was really fun.
I just remember that feeling of, again, just going out and looking up at the sky and wondering, what is that? What is out there?
That was great.
That was--
She was great.
That was, like, emotional.
Yeah. I really enjoyed that conversation. That was a good one.
