Transcripts of Transit

[Music] How do we find worlds orbiting other stars?

[Music] Transits are now the most successful method.

[Music] As a planet passes in front of its star, it blocks some of the light, causing a slight drop in brightness.

[Music] If these dips repeat, it could indicate a planet.

[Music] The size and shape of the dips tell us planet size and orbit,

[Music] or even if there are several worlds.

[Music] Transits have led us to thousands of new planets already.

[Music] Upcoming missions like TESS will find thousands more.
