NASA and the U.S. Forest Services are surveying the forests of Interior Alaska.

Researchers are collecting data by plane using an advance instrument that can map the composition and 3D structure of the wilderness.

This study will be used to assess how the region is responding to changes in the climate and identify areas that are prone to wild fires.
