NASA’s Planetary Fleet – Venus Remote observations of Venus have historically been limited by the crushing pressure and scorching temperatures present at the planet’s surface. But despite its presently hostile conditions, planetary scientists suspect Venus was once a habitable ocean world, similar to Earth. Studying the planet in more detail may offer answers to questions about how life started on Earth and where we might find life elsewhere in our solar system. Two upcoming missions to Venus – the Venus Emissivity, Radio Science, InSAR, Topography, and Spectroscopy (VERITAS) mission and the Deep Atmosphere Venus Investigation of Noble Gases, Chemistry, and Imaging (DAVINCI) – are planned for 2027 and 2029, respectively. These two missions will provide scientists with a better understanding of the Venetian atmosphere, terrain, and geological history. For more information: https://science.nasa.gov/venus/
