The Nimbus satellites were Launched over a 14 year period, 1964 to 1978. Having a 30 year coverage of Earth observations and carrying a total of 33 instruments, which included ozone mappers, the Coastal Zone Color Scanner instrument and microwave and infrared radiometers. The Nimbus satellite series transformed how scientists looked at the Earth System.
