Tracking Timber in Washington’s Wynoochee Valley

Washington's Wynoochee Valley contains dense forests that are regularly altered by timber harvesting. In this Harmonized Landsat and Sentinel-2 (HLS) sequence, disturbed forests are visible as patches of bare ground against the green of the undisturbed trees. Tracking these changes from space is a practical way to monitor logging patterns and forest health over large regions for free.
