Mount Saint Helens Recovery

In 1980, Mount Saint Helens erupted and destroyed 230 square miles of forest in Washington State. This near-infrared time series follows the decades-long recovery of that scarred landscape. Volcanic ash and rock appear grey, while plant life appears bright red.
