The oceans are responding to Earth's changing climate in ways that we are only beginning to understand. Given that phytoplankton are responsible for over half of the oxygen we breathe and form the base of the marine food chain, it is critical to understand how they are responding to these climate forcings as well. NASA has been using satellites, aircraft, and ships to study the biology of our oceans for over three decades. This combined data set provides an unprecedented opportunity to study oceanic climate change on the scale of decades.
