They largely affect the technology that we're dependent upon such as the global positioning system, pipelines, radio communication. But as far as direct effects on you, you're not going to get increased rating or increased cancer risk because there's a coronal mass ejection. If your pregnant your baby is going to be just fine. So you don't have to worry about direct personal effects of a solar flare or a coronal mass ejection on your self.
