Transcripts of imhoff_six_tons If you can imagine a plant taking carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere, then we're measuring the total amount of plant mass in terms of how much carbon left in it. So if you look at it in terms of the amount of carbon, people in North America for example use almost six tons of carbon per year from plants. Ok, so that's quite a lot. And if you look at people in south-central Asia, they use less than two tons per person. And so in terms of NPP carbon footprint, then people in North America are using quite a bit more than people in south-central Asia.
