Transcripts of Imhoff_regional_variability One of the things that came out of this study was that if you look at the globe regionally, different things are happening. In the United States and in China for example, because of economics, both the population and the per capita consumption levels have actually increased. And this has been especially important for China because the populations are already so large. In other parts of the world, like south-central Asia in particular India, per capita consumption levels have not increased very much in aggregate, even though the population has grown so if you think in terms of vulnerabilities, then populations that are growing very quickly but are not increasing their per capita consumption brings to mind the possibility that that population could be very vulnerable in terms of shifts in climate, because they have to manage things very closely.
