Hurricane Lili, October 2, 2002
|
Hurricane Lili strengthened as it passed over the Gulf of Mexico and headed towards the U.S. coast. It was reclassified as a Category 4 hurricane, with sustained winds of 135 mph. The storm is projected to make landfall tomorrow in the same part of Louisianna that Tropical Storm Isidore dumped over 20 inches of rain just one week ago. Evacuation orders have been issued to nearly a half-million people in Louisiana and Texas. A storm surge of 10-12 feet is expected along the immediate coast line.
