Stratosphere Conditions and Chemistry

Four images of the stratosphere on Feb. 13, 1993. The leading image shows the stratospheric temperature, the next image back shows the ozone destroying radical ClO measured by MLS. The next image back shows ClONO₂ measured by CLAES. The last image shows HNO₃ also measured by CLAES. The combination of these measurements gives us insight into the process of stratospheric ozone depletion.
