Title: Vegetation Canopy Lidar of Costa Rica
|
|
Abstract: Three images from the animations of LVIS observations over the Costa Rican rain forest in large, print-size digital format, including a false-color flat map of the entire region representing different tree heights a close-up 3D cut-away of the forest in false-color to show tree heights and a close-up 3D cut-away of the forest with a simulated green canopy. The area mapped is in the Atlantic lowlands of Costa Rica, north of the capital city of San Jose. The tallest continuous forest canopy in the false-color image (red) is 130-145 feet tall, with a few taller trees reaching up to 180 feet. The area was mapped in March 1998.
