Global Sea Surface Temperature and NDVI
MODIS provides frequent (every 1-2 days) global views of the Earth. This image shows a true-color land surface and a false color sea surface temperature map (red and yellow are warmer, blues are cooler).   1126 Scientist
Global Sea Surface Temperature and MODIS
Global carbon monoxide as measured by MOPITT from March 5, 2000 to March 7, 2000 is shown on a rotating globe. High values of carbon monoxide are shown in red and yellow, and the large areas of missing data in white are regions not seen by MOPITT during this three-day period.   1133 Scientist
  MOPITT Globe
Global carbon monoxide as measured by MOPITT from March 5, 2000 to March 7, 2000 is shown on a globe, which then unwraps to a cartesian projection. High values of carbon monoxide are shown in red and yellow, and the large areas of missing data in white are regions not seen by MOPITT during this three-day period.   1134 Scientist
  MOPITT Globe Unwrap
Global carbon monoxide as measured by MOPITT from March 5, 2000 to March 7, 2000 is shown on a globe, which then unwraps to a cartesian projection and zooms into the African Sahel, fading to data of fires from biomass burning from the VIRS instrument on TRMM. High values of carbon monoxide are shown in red and yellow, and the large areas of missing data in white are regions not seen by MOPITT during this three-day period.   1135 Scientist
MOPITT Globe Unwrap with Zoom into TRMM Fire Data
Spinning globe showing CERES data   1136 Scientist
  CERES Globe
A flat projection of CERES data   1137 Scientist

  Global Surface Reflectance (MODIS)
MODIS provides new capabilities for measuring the properties of clouds. The sensor measures how much of the globe is covered by clouds, identifies various cloud types, and even enables scientists to determine the sizes of the particles that make up clouds. This latter measurement allows scientists to distinguish clouds made of water droplets from those made of ice crystals, and from those made of snow flakes. In this image, the blue clouds are ice clouds, pink indicates snow clouds, and green shows water clouds.   1128 Scientist
Cloud Optical Thickness Effective Particle Radius
This visualization was made to demonstrate a technique developed by scientists to remove clouds from data images by using cloud data. Initially, you will see the Larsen Ice Shelf with the clouds obstructing the view, then fades to a mask to mask out the clouds, and then removes the clouds from the view, leaving the Larsen Ice Shelf unobstructed.   1131 Scientist
  Larsen Clouds
This visualization was made to demonstrate a technique developed by scientists to remove clouds from data images by using cloud data. Initially, you will see a portion of South America with the clouds obstructing the view, then fades to a mask to mask out the clouds, and then removes the clouds from the view, leaving the view of South America unobstructed.   1132 Scientist
