Aerosols and Clouds over southern Africa   3119   ICESat Aerosols and Clouds over Africa
Updated print resolution image showing the retreating front over the past 150 years.
3077   Updated History of Jakobshavn Glacier Recession (1850-2004)
Newly updated print resolution image showing the retreat of Jakobshavns calving front from 2001 to 2004.   3076   Jakobshavn Glacier Calving Front Recession Updated (2001-2004)
Jakobshavn glacier flow with 1992 data in red and 2000 data in blue   3072   Jakobshavn Glacier, Greenland flow field
Print resolution image showing the retreating front over the past 150 years.   3055   History of Jakobshavn Glacier Recession
As the Jakobshavn Glacier discharges ice from its mouth, tributary ice streams show signs of acceleration. This series of Landsat images from 2002 shows rapid migration of ice features downstream, triggering adjacent land ice to accelerate downslope. A sequence of 7 Landsat images cycles at the end of the animation repeatedly to better see the flow.   3054   Jakobshavn Glacial Floe
Print resolution image showing the retreat of Jakobshavns calving front from 2001 to 2003.   3053   Jakobshavn Glacier Calving Front Recession (2001-2003)
ICESat clouds south to north spiral   3040   ICESat Cloud Walls (south to north spiral camera path)
End of scripted ICESat path   3039   ICESat Cloud Walls (scripted camera path)
Hurricane Isabels structure as a category 4   2997   Hurricane Isabel: Under the Hood (PR and AMSU only)
Hurricane Isabel as a category 3   2996   Hurricane Isabel: Under the Hood (with popout boxes)
Hurricane Isabel as a category 3   2995   Hurricane Isabel: Under the Hood (background only)
This animation follows Hurricane Isabel (2003) from its birthplace in the Ethiopian Highlands of East Africa, across the Atlantic Ocean, to the United States. Atlantic hurricanes are often formed as winds over the Gulf of Aden intersect with the Ethiopian Highlands.   2987   Hurricane Isabel Genesis
A view of Antarctica showing ice sheet elevation and cloud data from ICESat   2978   ICESat Lithograph
Animated isosurfaces of earth stress below Hawaii. The blue objects indicate the shape of the stress distribution and the yellow objects indicate the high stress areas.   2970   Volumetric Visualization of the Convection-generated Stresses in Earth
Southern Alaskan Earthquakes from 1-18-1993 to 8-2-2003.   2969   Glaciers Spur Alaskan Earthquakes
Print resolution still of SeaWiFS data on 9-18-04. Note the light blue trail southeast of the hurricane. This trail indicates higher levels of phytoplankton near the ocean surface.   2955   Isabel's Phytoplankton Trail with GOES
Animation dissolves between the 9/13/03 and 9/18/03 SeaWiFS datasets revealing the phytoplankton bloom. The animation ends with a
slight push into the bloom.   2954   Isabel's Phytoplankton Trail
An example snapshot of the 2003 North Atlantic Icebergs.   2949   International Ice Patrol's 2003 Seasonal Iceberg Data
Aura passing over Europe collecting (simulated) OMI data.   2948   Simulated Aura/OMI Data Collection
A close-up shot of Europa revealing the conceptualized heat transport under the surface.   2947   Europa's Synthetic Subsurface Heat Transport (Version 1)
A close-up shot of Europa revealing the simulated heat transport under its icy outer surface.   2946   Europa's Synthetic Subsurface Heat Transport (Version 2)
Spacecraft orbit the Earth including Terra, Aqua, and Aura   2945   NASA's Orbiting Earth Observing Fleet (includes Aura)
Spacecraft orbit the Earth including Terra, Aqua, and Aura (in orange)   2944   NASA's Orbiting Earth Observing Fleet (includes Aura in orange)
A section of the outer shell is removed to reveal the Earth.   2941   TOMS Ozone Holds Key to Ozone Trends (with Height Indicator)
