September 2014 X-Flare
On September 10, 2014, the sun erupts with an X-flare of intensity X1.6 in the center of the solar disk. The event also launches a coronal mass ejection earthward.
Even in the 304 angstrom filter, the region remains bright for substantial time after the flare event.
In the 171 angstrom filter, we can see the coronal loops lined up in an arcade structure.
In the 131 angstrom filter, we see the 'sigmoid' structure of the flare.
